About the Panelists:

Simon Dent

  • Simon started his career as a solicitor in London, before falling into the world of nightclub promoting, leading to five years organising parties for some of the biggest celebrities and sports personalties in the world. It was after this, that Simon really followed his passion for sport; leaving promotion to found multiple business with sport at the heart.
  • But his personal accolades are just as impressive as his professional. Simon has been running since 2014 and still credits it as the most powerful, life-changing, and above all: accessible discipline. He's completed two huge charity challenges with rugby league legend Jamie Peacock - a 50 miles loop of London in 2021, before completing 100 miles in 2022. Then in 2023 he raced the Marathon des Sables: one of the toughest foot races in the world, 7 days across the desert to complete a 250km run.
  • Simon can often be found running on the South Downs in Sussex, and he believes there is a clear overlap between the skillset required to become a successful entrepreneur and long-distance runner; according to Simon, both require practice, a growth mindset, motivation, resilience, passion and a desire to reach your end-goal. This event aims to raise awareness and support of his next incredible challenge: the 2024 Dragons Back Race.

Spencer Matthews

  • Spencer Matthews is an Entrepreneur,  Broadcaster and proud father of three, with an incredible CV of achievements.
  • From completing Marathon Des Sables, a 6-day ultramarathon through the Moroccan dessert, in 2021 to coming 3rd in a 5-day ultramarathon through the Amazon rainforest in 2023, Spencer knows first hand about pushing his limits. We’ve timed this event well as Spencer is currently gearing up and training hard for one of his biggest endurance challenges yet…
  • From “living in a cycle of drinking excessively” for most of his twenties, Spencer realised the benefits of quitting alcohol before the birth of his first child and has never looked back. In 2019 he founded Clean Co, the #1 independent non-alcoholic spirit company in the world, on a mission to provide an alternative for those looking to moderate their relationship with alcohol.
  • Spencer is also a director of The Michael Matthews Foundation, a charity set up by the family in memory of his brother Michael who sadly passed away at the young age of 22. The foundation supports thousands of children from remote areas to access education, thereby offering them the benefits of a better start in life.

Alice Dearing

  • Alice Dearing is a 26 year old Team GB Olympic swimmer who has had a huge impact in the world of sport. Alice quickly took to the water enjoying the challenges and competition of the sport, and after 15+ years of dedication, is one of the top swimmers in Great Britain.
  • Alice made history at Tokyo 2020 as Team GB’s first black female swimmer. Alice is using her experiences and rising profile to help make a positive impact in the sport she loves; and become the voice of diversity in swimming. This passion has led her to co found the Black Swimming Association: a non-profit organisation aimed at championing diversity in swimming across all levels. As well as this, Alice is currently part of the Women Sport’s Trust #Unlocked campaign which heroes sportswomen who are looking to influence and impact women’s’ sport to raise participation and diversity.
